i dont know if you've talked about this before but the movie poster for elizabethtown is a great example of publicly enforcing ideas of how much space males vs. females are allowed to take up when they're sitting down. what's worse, the only reason i was looking at this poster in the first place is because my professor used it on a powerpoint slide during a lecture on the manic-pixie-dream-girl debate. i've never seen the movie but i definitely never will.
Thank you for this example! It’s very clear example of the socially enforced difference in posture between men and women. I really hope that your professor emphasized what a hot mess the whole discussion around the manic-pixie-dream-girl is.
